Arte in Europa - Artist Profile
Marco Tamburro
Marco Tamburro was born in 1974 in Perugia.
The son of the renowned Italian artist Antonio Tamburro, Marco is your stereotypical artist, with his bohemian looks and artistic flair he would not look out of place sipping absynth in Paris with the likes of Degas or Toulouse-Lautrec.
Brought up surrounded by paintings and materials in his fathers studio it is not surprising that the young Marco would inherit the love and passion as well as the talent for art that his father inspired.
Whilst studying drawing and architecture Marco became involved with a theatre group designing sets and supervising the scenery painters.
After graduating from the Istituto d‘Arte,Perugia, Marco moved on to work and further study at the Brera institutes in Milano and Roma, finally settling in the latter.
Marco continued to work with theatre groups whilst also carving out a reputation in his own right as an artist of merit. Having a famous father was more often a hindrance rather than a help and Marco had to prove that he was capable to succeed on his own without assistance from” il maestro.”
Marco has since went on to hold solo exhibitions in Roma, Udine and Edinburgh, and collective exhibitions in Bari, Viareggio, Venezia, Bologna, Cannes, Padua and New York. He has also taken part in joint exhibitions with his father where his work stands up to and sells well alongside, occasionally even outselling.
His interests in theatre and photography are dominant in his work as he interprets daily images in large format canvases. His pictures are often filled with movement and are preferably kept in black and white with just a hint of red.
Forever with a paint brush or camera in hand Marco photographs everything from derelict buildings to people rushing past in the streets which he then recreates as a collage on canvas from his attic studio apartment overlooking the Piazza della spagna.
