Ink and coloured pencil on cartridge - 2017

(London, Kent)

‘Joseph Cornell was an internationally famous artist who was a recluse, travelled little but produced many exotic little boxes with elements such as parrots, cockatoos, circus performers and animals. Like me, he was an art enthusiast who often referenced the work of other artists in his compositions. Unlike Cornell, I have been fortunate enough to travel and see many at first hand. I drew this during two visits to the Royal Academy Cornell show and added a long-distance view in Kent as I imagine he longed for distant horizons.’
