Ink on cartridge - 2022

(Edinburgh)

‘Edinburgh sparkles with old streetlamps, glass and reflective objects during the dark winter months. After dusk, the contrast between dark and light in Edinburgh Old Town is striking and it’s possible to understand the strength of belief in witchcraft that once beset this historic city. I took another opportunity to visit Queen Elizabeth’s collection of da Vinci drawings as they toured, this time to her Holyrood Palace. His secret, beautiful c.1511 drawing of the unborn child was hidden by Da Vinci as practical anatomical studies were considered heretical. It was amongst the earliest to reveal the incredible process of procreation.’
